Last chance to see Rutland’s Art Trail Posted On 24 September 2021

Appreciate Artwork produced by local Artists – 25-26th September

Rutland Open Studios is a flourishing community of artists, craftspeople and designer-makers working throughout Rutland and surrounding counties. Their aim is to being local artists and people together. They do this through featuring local artists on their website, running art classes that the community can sign up for and running an annual art trail. Unfortunately, last year’s art trail was cancelled due to lockdown and this year’s trail had to be postponed (the event usually runs in June).

Luckily, it was all steam ahead in September when Rutland Open Studios were able to run their art trail for the 14th year. The trail allows artists from Rutland and neighbouring counties to open the doors of their studios and exhibition spaces to the public, given an insight into the creative processes involved in making art. This year, 60 artists took part, showcasing skills in painting, sculpture, printmaking, jewellery, glassmaking, ceramics, photography to name but a few!

This weekend, 25th and 26th September is the last weekend the trail will be available for the public to view so if you haven’t already made the most of the local talent, why not plan a trip? The work has been split up into four regions, North West Rutland, North East Rutland, South West Rutland and South East Rutland. The Rutland Studio’s website also has a gallery feature allowing you to preview the work of the artists on the trail in advance to decide which ones you would like to see. Some artists are holding open studios, whilst others are by appointment only so need to be phoned in advance. The art trail brochure gives details of where you can find all of the artists on the trail and contact numbers and emails for all featured artists.

After checking out the skills of local artists and craftsman this year, you may find yourself inspired to showcase your work. If you wish to do so, the fee for the year is £55 or £50 if you sing up before January. Visit www.rutlandopenstudios.co.uk to find out more.
